Week 1. Leap Past Limitations: God's Friend
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. -- Exodus 33:11
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. -- Exodus 33:11
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. -- John 15:15
God spoke to Moses face to face, not by an angel, but He himself, the Almighty God, creator of the universe. He spoke to Moses in plain words to be understood without any confusion or explanation. As a man speaks to his friend. Freely, openly, with familiarity. Not in a reserved way that would cause fear or show any kind of authority.
John 15:5 is one of the most prominent descriptions of the kind of relationship Jesus had with his disciples. The friendship that Jesus demonstrated was deep, self-sacrificial and with loving commitment. This is the God that we serve . A God who wants nothing more than to have an intimate relationship with His children. A God who who wants to be our friend and stand by our side in times of crisis, times of insecurities, and fears. When we feel pressed from every side and have no where else to go. HE s there.
Your Call to Leap:
Write down all the ways that God has been a friend to you. Pray for an intimate relationship with God.
